There has been a new law established that Eliminates General (Welfare) Assistance and it affects thousands of Pennsylvania Citizens. This is HB1261 which became effective as of August 1, 2012.

Hundreds of organizations that are directly affected by this legislative action are hard pressed to find alternate means for provider services for the citizens who are in several targeted areas of our population.

Philadelphia County consisting of an estimated 1.5 million people means that 1% (15,000) of those people will need immediate attention to their life’s circumstances.

The additional counties consisting of 66 counties has an estimated 10.5 million people which means that 1% (105,000) of those people will need immediate attention.”

120,000 people is a more accurate estimate than the 70,000 that has been publicized in the media.
